History

They only played this classic of ‘60s swinger-pop once. On 12/1/84, the band made their Nectar’s debut as Phish in the upstairs room at the legendary bar. Following an interesting set featuring “Skippy the Wondermouse,” “Makisupa Policeman,” and The Dude of Life in full (albeit cheapo) regalia, band intros were done above a soundtrack of this Herb Alpert masterpiece, sans Herb’s signature trumpet, but with the added bonus of Marc Daubert on percussion.
