OFFICIAL TAPER'S SECTION TURNS THIRTY

The first official taper's section at a Phish show was at Bender Arena on 12/28/93. Although the Bender and Cumberland County Civic Center shows on the run were GA, New Haven and Worcester (NYE) were not, and so tapers had to request tickets through Phish Tickets By Mail for tickets to the section's reserved seats at those shows, as announced in the fall '93 Doniac Schvice.

thelot I brought blanks and postage to New Haven, Portland and Worcester and some kind tapers graciously returned them to me within a few weeks. God bless the tapers!????

OrangeSox Happy Birthday, Phish Taper's Section! I don't know where i'd be without you... By the time I got to see the band the first time, the taper's section was very well established and for that I am deeply thankful. Among many great decisions the band has made to benefit fans, embracing the taping and trading community will always likely be the most important. Sure, as much as i relished all the early albums and every show i was lucky to see, my love for Phish is dependent upon the opportunity to listen to so many representative shows thanks to conscientious tapers.

While it's easy to forget with the convenience of today's streaming technology, even those great sites are still largely dependent on the work of tapers for us all to enjoy. Of course, i appreciate the ease of access today, but I personally have great memories of trades and tapes. One taper I'd like to personally thank is @chillwig: he shared his Schoeps tapes quickly and with several traders to ensure low gen high quality recordings that became the seeds for some great trees and were always coveted trade bait. He's one of dozens and to each and everyone always, THANK YOU!
