I was in college at the time and took a bus from Boston to Port Chester as I didn't have a car. My roomate, who was from NY, and his buddy met me at the bus terminal. All I can say is that the show did not disappoint. Phish's set was very good and did not seemed rushed. I think everyone was excited to see John Popper play with Phish and the place went wild when Trey helped out with Gloria during the BT set. Just goes to show the level of respect each band had for the other. One of the more memorable Phish shows that I have been to on many levels.

SBQ quality is amazing here! I love being able to hear Mike so well. A lot of shows from the early days aren't able to capture his sound very well, but not an issue here at all! The crowd is really quiet in the recording, which is kinda eerie at times.

The Landlady is such an awesome opener! I've always had a strong connection with this song, it's just so damn fun.

The Squirming Coil has some great Mike stuff. Trey nails his solo perfectly. Page's solo could be a bit longer, but what we get is still beautiful. An all around great version > I've never really been a huge fan of Dinner and a Movie, but this one has great energy and is really fun > Bouncing Around the Room is standard; Trey nails his riff

Foam is great. Mike's slapping tone is interesting here, it sounds metallic almost. Cool nonetheless. Everyone here is contributing their all, and you just have to love it.

You Enjoy Myself rocks. What were you expecting? Mike and Page really stand out here. I've never really thought of my favorite YEM vocal jam, but if I had, this would be a strong contender > The Oh Kee Pah Ceremony is standard > Suzy Greenberg is standard, but has some great energy.

Esther is above average. Trey's weird solo around the middle of the song is so damn cool. He stumbles some of the lyrics, but I've always been able to give him the benefit of the doubt, Esther's lyrics are like a damn novel. Just a great version overall > Possum is slightly above average. Mike's vocals are powerful, and the various teases at the beginning are pretty cool. They start to kinda fall apart after the first verses, but manage to get into a groove near the end.

A real highlight of the show is the HYHU > If I Only Had A Brain > HYHU -> David Bowie. I've always thought IIOHAB was super fun (especially when Fish uses the vacuum like a talkbox), and the segue from HYHU into Bowie is just so awesome. Trey does some really cool, eerie riffs during 3:50-5:55. This Bowie generates a lot of tension really fast, which isn't always a bad thing. Naturally, the ending is kick-ass.

Carolina is standard, but still my favorite a capella tune they've done.

Don't Get Me Wrong is so, so sweet. Hearing Popper play with Phish is honestly a dream come true for me, and knowing they both wrote it makes it so much better. Finally, the vocal jam acts as the cherry on top of this spectacular sundae.

You should really check this show out; it's short, but definitely worth your time. Highlights: The Squirming Coil, You Enjoy Myself, Esther, HYHU -> David Bowie, Don't Get Me Wrong

Master SBD available for this show with very little of the room mixed in. With that said, the sound quality is a bit flat and lifeless. I’d love to hear a crispy audience recording of their first Capitol Theater performance!

The opening portion of the set is straightforward Fall ‘90’s Phish. Things start to pick up with a decent YEM and a solid version of Possum! HYHU bookends Zero Man’s rendition of Brain. This slides beautifully into Bowie. Short hi-hat hijinx with a brief Mo’ Better Blues tease. Good jam that doesn’t get too out there. Lots of great Machine Gun Trey action. Instead of ending it there they do one more for Bob and Elaine Dillof, Carolina. The debut of Don’t Get Me Wrong with Popper on vocals and harmonica takes the encore slot. This offers up the second vocal jam of the evening complete with Zero Man on his bone!
