from eric tipton date Sat, Jun 13, 2009 at 12:52 PM subject My 6/12/09 Bonnaroo review Hey folks. So I wasn't at the show. Just got done listening to it. Here are my thoughts: SET ONE Chalk Dust Torture 8:07 Standard. Pretty much nailed it. Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan 5:08 Like the others played thus far. Nice. Trey says something like "It's an honor to be here, thanks for having us" after the song was played. The Divided Sky 13:48 Well done. I think the Divided from Asheville had a bit more fire to it. Possum 8:00 Standard. Down with Disease 17:23 Nice little funk jam from 9-13 minutes. Some nice riffs from Trey and then they go for the wrapup. Good jam. Alaska 7:40 Sounded good. Stash 14:56 Total snoozefest. 13 minutes in Trey finally wakes up. Too little, too late. Garbage. Kind of reminds me of the SOAMelt from Jones Beach. Golgi Apparatus 4:43 Not bad. Wolfman's Brother 8:50 Nothing too crazy. Poor Heart 2:25 OK. Kill Devil Falls 15:18 Pretty good jam - has some spacey exploration to it and segues into > Free 8:53 Pretty tame. Nice Mike action after the vocals. Wading in the Velvet Sea 5:56 Meh... Harry Hood 14:31 First clean composed section, woo hoo Trey! Other than that, just another Hood that meanders aimlessly and has no true peak at the end. Someone hook Trey up with a copy of 12/30/95. Highway to Hell 3:41 Nice bustout. Last played 2/26/97 - 321 shows ago (and what a show that was!) 2001 7:22 Short, doesn't do a whole lot but good placement. Nice segue into > You Enjoy Myself 10:49 Slight screwup @ 4:10. Once all the composed stuff is over with they start jamming a bit. Then, kind of out of left field they segue into > Wilson 5:48 Wow! No one could have seen that coming. Standard Wilson segues right back into > You Enjoy Myself 7:54 They picked up right where they left off, very, very cool stuff. ENCORE A Day in the Life 5:19 Standard. In Summary - this was exactly the sort of show I thought they would play at the 'Roo. Plenty of their 'hits' and not a whole lot of crazy jamming.
