11/2/90 Glen Miller Ballroom, UColorado, Boulder, CO (Rvwd 4/95) Were any of you out there at this show?? Want to comment? The Divided Sky at this show is definitely one of my favorites. It is AMAZING!! But to the MikeS.. Opening is straightforward, but the jam segment is particularly funky. Kinda slow and grooved out. Mike is looooow on the bass, and Page is unduly active. Trey is more active than usual, but he does the usual off-key sustaining stuff. It doesn't sound good, though. Average length.. nothing exceedingly exceptional occurs. Hydrogen kicks in at just around 6 mins. Trey fudges the first note of the theme, but otherwise, the H2 is fine. Weekapaug kicks in at about 8 and a half, and WHOA!!!! MIKE IS ON FIRE for this opening. He's really quick and tight on the notes of this opening solo. It really sounds great. Ok.. how to eloquently, yet succinctly and majestically, describe this Weekapaug. Hmmmm... SICK SICK SICK SICK SIIIIIIIIIICK!!! =^] =^] =^] Trey is tight, controlled, clearly leading and apparently knows where he wants to take the band!! This is certainly not a Golden Hose moment (this is genuinely Weekapaug!), but simply excellent playing from everyone. It is a magnificently tight, creative, jaw-dropping Weekapaug. Everyone is just severely *HOT*. It is easily the best that I have heard since I've started reviewing all of my Weeks. It is stupendous and nearly breathtaking (I've heard a lot of Phish.. so I can't say my breath was AS taken away as it could have been..). There is not one tease, and no spacey interludes -- just straight jamming, but, nonetheless, Weekapaug jamming really doesn't get much better than this. Everything just WORKS. There's a straightforward ending to this rather short Weekapaug, but it was just such an outstanding version! Ends at just after 14 mins! That's right, not even a 6 minute Weekapaug, but HOLY SHIT! B- rating for this MikeSGroove. This is the best all-around Mike's Groove that I've got in my collection from 1986-11/2/90 (imnsho). As far as reviews of this SHOW go, all that really needs be said is that A) the Divided Sky is excellent; and B) a kickass La Grange closes the show. Low gen crispy digital boards are out there all over the place, so get a copy.
