10/29/88 Goddard College, Plainfield, VT (Rvwd 3/95) Damn! There's a SICK Halley's -> Whipping Post that opens this set, and it MUST BE HEARD by everyone (not to mention the Curtis Lowe.. wish they'd bring this one back!!). The opening to this MikeS is typical, and the jam is frighteningly straightforward. In fact, it is amazing how lame this version is, in light of the absolutely AMAZING versions of Whipping Post and Fire that are on this same set. I don't get it. The MikeS is only 6 minutes long, and it is great only in the sense of average... there is also no H2 or Week to soften the blow that this lame one causes... it is just so damn plain, it wouldn't be fair to average Great versions to give it a rating above a F+. The version of Hendrix's Fire that they do at this show, though, is probably the best I own. It is just f*cking sick what Trey does. I wish he jammed like this more often these days (i.e., even in Fall 95!). Damn. two cents charlie
