2/28/91 Sarrat Theater, Vanderbilt, Nashville, TN (Rvwd 5/95) Just before Esther, Trey talks about taking everyone to Gamehendge, and there isn't even one audible cheer out of the crowd. Those were the days.. ;^) There's a power outage during the Golgi at this show, and, apparently, during the outage, there's a "memorable drum solo" from Tubbs. I have an AUD of this show, and this "solo" is merely Fish's hi-hat snapping away in Bowie-opening fashion (my Golgi is CUT.. then hiss.. then Zeroman's hi-hat). Does anyone have this "solo" in its entirety, or am I correct in thinking that Trey was just joking with the "memorable drum solo" remark ? There's also a whispering "jam" before Coil, and the drumz that start off Llama seem to go on for a few more bars than usual.. The Mike's Song at this show is cool and funky, but nothing of interest occurs. It is also the usual length, with H2 kicking in at just after the 6 min point. H2 is as mistake free as it gets, although it sure as hell sounds more forced than it usually does. Not FORCED, but forced, mind you... just not as smooth as I've heard them (well, Trey & Page) play it before. Trey sounds forced. ANYWAY, the Weekapaug kicks in at nearly the 9 min point, and, well, it is great as usual. Mike wails in his opening jam -- he's tight and quick with the solo.. it doesn't slide or snake at all. Trey is hot during this Week jam, too. Everyone is. It is a typical kickass Week, and as a a MikeS Groove, this whole thing was ok (C-). No space or teases of other tunes... nothing outstanding or curious (for PHISH) occurs. Ends at 14 and a half or so.
