    Southeast guitar legend Warren Haynes is best known for his work with The Allman Brothers Band and, later, Gov’t Mule and Phil and Friends. He has also worked with David Allen Coe, and has appeared on albums by artists like Blues Traveler, Jono Manson, The Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies and Michael McDonald. In the Phish community, he is known for the searing guitar solos he provided onstage during songs like “Funky Bitch” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on 12/11/95, “Misty Mountain Hop” on 9/16/99 and “Viola Lee Blues” (alongside Phil Lesh) one night later. Warren also was a part of the infamous Ritz Power Jam (which included guest spots by Trey and Mike) in the winter of 1993 and sat in with Trey’s solo band on 5/27/03. He has played with Phish members at Project Logic gigs (5/7/00 with Fishman, 9/10/01 with Mike). He collaborated with Page on 12/6/00 at a benefit for the Milarepa Fund for Tibetan Freedom and with Mike on 10/1/02 at the record release party for Clone, Mike’s album with Leo Kottke. On 12/31/00, Mike played with Haynes and Mule drummer Matt Abts opening for Phil and Friends.
    In 2001, Mike was among the many star bass players Warren recruited to fill the shoes of the late Allen Woody for the Gov’t Mule project On the Banks of the Deep End. Page also performed on this record, which featured dozens of musicians performing alongside Warren and Abts. Mike filmed the sessions for a documentary, Rising Low, and he and Page played at several shows on Mule’s 2001 and 2002 tours. On 3/10/02, Mike and Warren performed as an acoustic duo at a private show in Austin, TX, commemorating the release of Rising Low. Then on 5/3/03, Mike was one of many guests at a Mule show that lasted over five hours. It was released on CD and DVD as The Deepest End.
