LeRoi is best known as the strong-lunged saxophonist from The Dave Matthews Band. Twice he has joined Phish separate from the rest of the band. Along with Dave, LeRoi joined Phish for the “Three Little Birds” encore on 6/17/95. More memorable, though, was Moore’s guest shot on 7/21/97. He joined Phish for a jam out of “Funky Bitch” that turned into a visual spectacle and musical cacophony, with each musician playing multiple instruments and hamming it up. This sequence was included in the career-spanning retrospective video shown at setbreak of Phish’s 20th anniversary show on 12/2/03. Moore passed away on August 19, 2008 from sudden complications stemming from an ATV accident the previous June.
