Derek Trucks, nephew of Allman Brothers Band legend Butch Trucks, is one of the rising young stars in the world of improvisational rock music. In addition to his own Derek Trucks Band, Derek has toured as a member of Phil Lesh and Friends, The Allman Brothers Band, and the lesser known but no less rocking Frogwings. Derek appeared with Phish on 7/7/99 at the Blockbuster Pavilion in Charlotte, NC, adding his slide guitar mastery to the double encore of “Possum” and “Funky Bitch.”
Derek has also shared the stage with each member of Phish individually: Fishman and Derek were both participants in the Zambiland Orchestra on 12/22/97 in Atlanta, GA; Page sat in with the Derek Trucks Band on 3/26/99 at Higher Ground in Winooski, VT; Mike also sat in with the Derek Trucks Band on 7/5/99 at the Shrine Park Fusion Fest in Macon, GA; finally, Derek sat in with Trey’s band at the Mountain Aire Music Festival in Angel’s Camp, CA on 5/25/02.
